We do occasionaly hear from people who would like to sign up, but are worried the entire site might be a scam to get their cash.

It might reassure you to know that we've been around since 2002, when we were a much smaller, free site. We've upset quite a few advice sector and disability organisations since then, mainly by writing about connections with dubious funders or government departments.
