New DLA claim and working 2 Months ago
I have just put in my claim form for DLA and from what I have read on here I think I qualify for HRM and MRC but fully expect to have to fight for it!

One thing i'm not sure about is will they hold against me the fact that I am working. Certainly one of my physios seems to think that as I can still work then it can't be all that bad - never mind the fact it took me almost 2 hours to get home today when it takes an able bodied person about 30 minutes

Hi,

Yes, you can work and claim DLA.

However, it might look strange to the DWP if you were claiming the Mobility Component and worked for example as a Postman, Window Cleaner, Traffic Warden etc where walking and/or climbing up and down ladders was an integral part of the job.

If you can demonstrate that reasonable adjustments have been made to help you in your employment, so much the better.

Pete
