The website itself aims to give members a better chance of making successful disability and incapacity benefits claims, renewals and appeals by providing the most detailed and up-to-date guides available anywhere on or off the internet. In addition, we make regular freedom of information requests to allow us to obtain and publish documents that the DWP would probably prefer claimants not to see.

Benefits and Work members are free to post questions and comments about any benefits related issue on this board. However, all posts are moderated before, largely to make it less likely that we’ll be sued by any of the huge multinational companies now involved in the benefits system. So you may have to wait a while before your post appears, particularly if we’re working elsewhere at the time.

As Moderators our area of expertise is in relation to disability living allowance, attendance allowance, the personal capability assessment used in connection with incapacity benefits and the work capability assessment used in connection with employment and support allowance. So those are the only subjects on which we can provide reliable information. However, you need to bear in mind that boards like this can never provide advice to individual claimants about their specific circumstances – for that you need to use an advice agency. All we can offer is general information about how the system works.

In addition, please be aware that this board is provided as a courtesy, it’s not covered by your subscription fee and there may be occasions when you have to wait a long time for a reply to your query.
