Renewal claim DLA after successful Appeal 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
|

My renewal for DLA was refused 18 months ago but I successfully appealed. Very stressful process, I had to wait six months...
My query now is: I have yet again to re-apply now and I wondered if the fact that I have successfully gone through an appeal might go in my favour? Does it mean I won't get turned down again? or Will I still have to go through yet another appeal if I get turned down again?

Hi Clara,
Regretfully not. Just because you were awarded DLA by a tribunal doesn't mean that you will automatically receive it when you re-apply.
We often hear members talking about making a 'renewal' application for DLA. However, this is really a misnomer, as once a fixed award, e.g. 3 years runs out and the claimant applies again, it is in fact, and has to be under the regulations, be treated as a new claim.
Hope this helps.
