£94.95 for couples
Main Phase Basic Allowance (contribution-based)
£60.50 for single people and couples
Additional components
Work related activity component £24 for single people and couples
Support component £29 for single people and couples
Income based ESA claimants who receive the support component will also automatically qualify for the enhanced disability premium of £12.60 per week.
Existing incapacity benefit and income support claimants
The DWP have given an undertaking that no-one will be worse off as a result of moving on to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) from incapacity benefit or income support. But many claimants who are currently in receipt of incapacity benefit or income support will fail the new, more rigorous work capability assessment and so have to go onto Jobseekers Allowance rather than Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
For more information about who will be better and worse off on ESA see Charities finally object as ESA rates announced.
