Step 2 Do you score enough points in the limited capability for work assessment?
The vast majority of ESA claimants who qualify will do so because they pass this test, which entitles you to receive the work-related activity component of ESA.
You need to score 15 points or more to pass the test. These can be for physical health or mental health or a combination of the two.
Online test
When you click on the Start the test link below, you'll be taken to an interactive online form. All you have to do is read through the test clicking on buttons.
At the end of the test you’ll be given your score, told whether you’ve passed and what page to go to next.
If you wish, you can type in your email address at the beginning of the test and your results will be emailed to you. You’ll also be signed up for our free monthly benefits newsletter if you don’t already receive it.
Physical health only
There are four pages to the test. If you only have a physical health condition complete the first two pages of the test then just click on the buttons at the bottom of pages 3 and 4 to score zero for mental health and be taken straight to your results.
Mental health only
If you only have a mental health condition just click on the buttons at the bottom of pages 1 and 2 to score zero for physical health and be taken straight to the mental health test.
Warning
Due to the nature of the software you will be timed out if you spend more than about 20 minutes on any one page.
You’re welcome to take the test as many times as you wish.
Good luck . . . start the test
If you've taken the test before and want to move on to the next step:
If you passed move on to Step 5 The limited capability for work-related activity assessment descriptors to see if you can get the higher paying support component instead.
If you didn't pass, move on to Step 3 The limited capability for work exceptional circumstances regulations.
