Employment and support allowance medical doctorStep 6 Are you covered by the limited capability for work-related activity (support group) exceptional circumstances regulations?
Even though you aren’t exempt and none of the limited capability for work-related activity descriptors applied, you will still be found to have limited capability for work-related activity if the following applies:

Because of your physical or mental health condition or disability, there would be a substantial risk to the mental or physical health of any person, including you, if you were found not to have limited capability for work-related activity.

Yes I am covered.
If the decision maker agrees, you will be eligible for the higher paying support component instead of the lower paying work-related activity component. That’s the end of the test for you.

No, I'm not covered.
If you’re not covered, you are still eligible for ESA with a work-related activity component. That’s the end of the test for you.

If you found this 6 step test useful, please tell others about it – it’s free for anyone to use. You can use the email button at the top of the Start the ESA test page to tell a friend or colleague.

You are also welcome to link to this test from another website, no need to ask first.
