No but I assume it's means tested?

Do you mean money from the social fund?

It's possible to apply for a grant or a loan. Here's an explanation - www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/W.../Dev_014348.xml.html

There's an 0800 number to call. You can apply on the phone or in writing.

If you're not sure if you're eligible or want help applying, your local CAB can help.

If you want money for household items, you'll find that the lowest Argos prices are what they'll pay.

You almost certainly won't get as much as you apply for, so apply for everything you can *honestly* justify asking for, even if it's more than you could could manage without.

Thankyou to all that answered my query,however I am asking about the hardship fund due to The ESA claim made by myself which has not come and I would need some funds until this is sorted out. I have had dealings like this since November of last year,whereby sick notes have been lost,someone lost my claim form, and I have spent a lot on 0845 numbers to these departments,and now I am reluctant to phone again, as I have no funds at all. I cannot find any information on the hardship fund, hence the post.

I'm not too sure there is a "hardship fund" there's a Social Funds which is for the following:-

If you are on a low income and faced with costs that are difficult to pay for out of your normal income, the Social Fund may be able to help.

The Social Fund can give a payment, a grant or a loan to help with things like:

* items for the house
* clothes and footwear
* travel
* urgent costs to keep you and your family safe
* items for a new baby
* a funeral
* heating costs in very cold weather, and
* heating costs during the winter to people aged 60 or over.

Or you can apply for a Crisis Loan.

HI,

The only hardship payments I am aware of are when claimants of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) are either denied payment pending clarification of entitlement or when their JSA is sanctioned due to failure to comply with the process. They only apply to JSA though.

There also used to be hardship payments made to young people aged 16 onwards who had either been 'disowned' by their parents or who could not live at home for other reasons such as violence etc.

Other than those, as posted above there is the Social Fund or budgeting loans if on means tested benefits.
