TOPIC: Site loading slow.

Site loading slow. 10 months 1 week ago #88824

Apologies to members who are experiencing forum pages loading slowly This is most likely due to Steve's Newsletter being sent to all members earlier this evening and to them reading the links therein.

It should be back to normal by tomorrow Wednesday 11 July 2012. If not Tech Support will be asked to check our servers.

I too am having issues with speed although at one point thought I wasn't going to be able to access the site.

I am still concerned. There are other disability related sites I have accessed in the past which currently seem to be 'blocked' by my ISP - BT Broadband. The evidence is fairly conclusive as I am able to access them via my mobile and also via a 'web proxy'. This would appear to be censorship of the very worst kind. All other sites I use behave normally.

I feel the people at B&W should be on the alert as I believe any web site championing the cause of the disabled is under threat.

I should point out that I am NOT a subversive (God help me, I voted for this Government!). I am, however, disabled and going through the horrendous IB to ESA transition and, as such, seem to be at the mercy of ATOS.

If, indeed, the 'Dirty Tricks Brigade' are at work something really should be done.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Hi all

Site response times are the result of us running with more than double the number of users that we typically have at this time of night, and nothing else.

Hi All,

Just to add that the free newsletter goes out to over 100,000 subscribers so it's not surprising that the site gets a bit busy on newsletter night. We normally send it out a bit later in the evening, so my apologies for the slow down tonight.

The worst should be over by now.

But definitely not down to dirty tricks,

Steve

Just to reiterate what Gordon has posted. The site slows down each time Steve releases our fortnightly Newsletter, and rarely if the site becomes overloaded with members viewing or downloading files from the members area. 99% of the time it runs pretty fast.

Of course it will vary according to your ISP and how far you are from BT's exchanges.

I live less than 1/2 mile from our local exchange, so often achieve speeds of 7 MB, occasionally faster. My maximum adaptive speed is 8 MB, but the site is still running slow for me, although on checking my speed I'm currently achieving 6.9 MB (6900 kbps)
