TOPIC: DLA Claim Form Request

DLA Claim Form Request 7 Months ago
Hi
Just had a strange experience when I requested a DLA form for my client. I was asked if my client was there with me and then asked loads of questions. I explained that my client wanted a claim form not an interogation
Anyone else had this experience

Cheers

Hi
Re loads of questions for just a claim pack request.
It is a new process at dla it is called "Nugatory check list" the questions they ask are to try to weed out any claims that have no chance of succeeding if they assume that there is little chance of a positive outcome they will tell you so but they should always say you can still have a claim pack if you want?

Here's more details and a link to the checklist.

The DWP have no right to dissuade a claimant from making a claim to DLA. Making a claim to any (social security) benefit is a statutory right in law.

If a valid claim is made and the claimant does not meet the conditions of entitlement, it should be disallowed with notification that the claimant has the statutory right of appeal against the adverse decision.

Another unlawful policy on the hoof by the DWP!

While I agree with you CD, I know from other forums that a lot of people are jumping on the benefit bandwagon. An (unintentional, I'm sure) side effect of the media and government trivialising disability has been to make everyone think they can claim. All of the 'get thousands for being fat/a bit stressed/lazy' headlines have encouraged people to think that a minor malady means they can be quids in.

An example on another forum. Someone was looking for financial advice because of debt. They stumbled across the benefits section, and suddenly a dislike of buses became a full blown phobia which would stop them working. It was obvious from the pattern of posts - starting with 'all benefits claimants are scroungers who should be in homes' type posts, and ending up 'I'm disabled give me money' type posts - that they were just trying it on.

Although in principle I hate the screening idea, I prefer it to genuine claimants having to wait even longer for claims to be assessed.

I'm purely an administrative moderator, I have no training in benefits just experience. Please don't take anything I say as being more valid than any other poster, in fact it's probably less.
