Some of you here may not realise it but few (if any) buildings where we are called in for benefit interviews/medicals comply with a Disability Discrimination Act access and facilities criteria audit
I have found out that ONE company owns most of those building and leases them to the DWP ect etc ect.
I have today contacted that company by e-mail and recieved a prompt reply which I answered straight away detailing the DDA criteria.
For you interest here are the DDA audit criteria:-
Physical Access
Dedicated disabled car parking spaces.
Drop-off points.
Unobstructed external routes into facilty
Level or ramped public and staff entrances, including main entrance.
Internal and external ramps, handrails, and lifts meet Building Regulation standards.
Access to all levels and areas of building public and non public
Dedicated wheelchair spaces
Dedicated disabled toilet facilities.
Unobstructed reception area of accessible height and width.

Facilities for people with sensory impairment
Induction loop office/information desk.
Infra red enhancement
Visual fire alarm system.
Braille, large print and/or raised lettering used for signage.
Sign language interpretation or lip speakers provided.
Audio description and ‘touch and feel’ elements provided.
Facilities to accommodate guide dogs.

Policy
On-going disability awareness training for staff.
Accessibility information published and marketed.
People with disabilities employed and actively recruited.
Decision making process involves people with disabilities
The administrator has disabled public write access.
