ESA50 Forms opened directly at ATOS centre or RM?

If the ATOS return envelope for the ESA50 has the address of the actual ATOS test centre on it (no po box number) does this mean it will be opened and handled directly by the ATOS people, and not some Royal Mail handling centre?

It would seem if the envelope has the street address of the ATOS place and no PO Box number then it must be going there and not some mail handling centre? Perhaps the mail handling centre ones are addressed differently?

If an ESA50 is addressed directly to ATOS HealthCare Centre, for example; 123 The High Street, then I would expect it to be opened by ATOS staff, however, the vast majority of the supplied return envelopes (if any), are not addressed in this way and go to centralised mail sorting sites, how many of these are staffed by Royal Mail staff, under sub-contract to ATOS, I don't know.

Re-addressing the envelope is not a good idea, the ATOS HealthCare offices are not geared up to receive ESA50s directly and there is a real risk, by doing, so, that the form will not be registered as having been received the normal four weeks allowed, which can result in an ESA claim being terminated.

There must be a way of getting the form processed without allowing it to go to one of these MSC's (mail sorting centres?) . Perhaps hand deliver it?

As I indicated in my previous post, not using the normal delivery process runs the risk of the form being classed as delivered outside of the required return date, it could even end up being lost as the office you might return it to, may not be the one that actually carries out the assessment.

You are of course entitled to ignore this advice.

Replied by JeanCannon on topic ESA50 Forms opened directly at ATOS centre or RM?
As I was reading this post my husband had just returned from posting my second lot of supporting evidence for my ESA50 because the first letter has apparently not been received (as not signed for)
The address on my envelope to return form was to an address without a PO box, but they still apparently did not receive it as I had sent it 1st class signed for so this second lot my husband sent normal 1st class as he said maybe they do not have the facility to sign for post.

For some reason, best known to themselves, the Royal Mail has two Tracking pages which often show different results, try the following if you have not already done so.

www.royalmail.com/trackdetails

The ESA50s are not signed for individually, but the "bag" is and the Royal Mail know which envelopes are in that "bag".
