Sweetheart

As Bro posted above, we are aware of claimants who have not received a new ESA50 when expected, however, the only way you will know whether you should have received one or not is to contact ATOS who can tell you whether they have been asked by the DWP to re-assess you.

ESA is paid fortnightly in arrears.

I am a long-term ESA claimant who has been through the assessment and appeal process several times now, and was finally awarded Support Group for one year as of June 2013 - at this time I was living in London (Lewisham to be precise) and during the year, moved to Brighton where I am still living. I mention this because some people have suggested there are regional differences.

Anyway, my award was suspicious to begin with since my last medical was cancelled and the decision was made quite suddenly, with no explanation why. I was shocked but joyous. As the year wore on, I became increasingly anxious, but then I read about the WCA suspension on this website and everything made more sense. My case had obviously been put on the backburner so to speak. I should have received the dreaded brown envelope no later than June 2014 but so far, nothing.

Only trouble is, a. I am in need of proof to claim back hospital travel expenses among other things, but my award letter has lapsed - I presume they have not sent me another one because they don't know how long it will be until I'm reassessed again/they don't want to tell me anything - and of course, I'm too scared to call and ask them for proof in case it triggers a reassessment.

and b. my circumstances are likely to change soon - either I need to move home in the next few months, or I need to try applying for PIP in order to receive more Housing Benefit and keep my home - but I'm terrified these changes could also trigger a reassessment. Has this happened to anyone? I wish I knew what was 'safe' to do during what is effectively a period of limbo.

ESA entitlement letters are issued every year in March and I believe in late November, although I am less sure of the latter. If you do not have one then all you need to do is contact the DWP office that deals with your claim and request a copy. Requesting this letter will not result in your ESA being re-assessed.

Your moving houses, even between DWP regions, or starting a claim for PIP are not changes that will result in your ESA being re-assessed except by co-incidence.

Thank you Gordon. Sincerely hope you are right because I do need to request a letter and make at least some of these changes sooner or later; I've been waiting for as long as possible.

They usually send me a letter every March but for some reason, nothing at all this year.

I'm paranoid because strange things have happened in the past - such as a phonecall to the DWP call centre triggering a review of their decision on not one, but two separate occasions. All I actually did the first time was call to see what the current status of my claim was, and the second time to ask them a basic question about how much I was being paid and when.

I am afraid I cannot offer any guarantees but the call centre staff that you will make the request to have no authority to initiate a review and should be able to request the letter from the computer system without the need to refer the request to anyone else.

Hi Everyone

Just an update,

As previously posted my WCA was due November 2014, but no brown envelope, as i have previously said i have a fab contact at the job centre who i originally dealt with when i went on the sick and i spoke to her recently, on my case notes the DM has posted "WCA referral now December 2016"!!!!!! whohoo, I know that the brown envelope can drop on my mat any time and it is not set in stone the date, but further testament to the delays I think?

Best Wishes

SWEETHEART
