ESA50 Deadline? was created by buster21
Hello all

Just looking for some advice please. ESA50 has to be returned no later than 27th August. It wont be completed fully or be ready with evidence untill the day before - 26th ( bank holiday 25th has not helped). My query is: I will be sending it by special delivery on Tuesday to get there on deadline day. Will it be sufficient for the ESA50 to arrive at the Wolverhampton handling site on deadline day or will it be expected to arrive at the local ESA office via Wolves of course on deadline day? Also, if something goes terribly wrong and I do not post it for whatever reason, am I alowed to fax it to them or even hand deliver it on deadline day to either Wolves or my local regional ESA office. Never been to Wolves! Thanks in advance.

Hi B,

As long as The ESA50 is delivered to "the return address that you have been given" by close of business on the deadline date, all should be fine.

If you post it in the morning of the day before the deadline date, (26/08/14) by special guaranteed next day delivery, it should arrive at its destination in time. (That's why posting it this way is so expensive)

I have used guaranteed next day delivery as above, on several occasions, and have never had a problem.

Even if the ESA50 is not entirely finished, I would still ensure it is returned by deadline.

Keep a note of the return address, then you can always forward on any additional evidence to the same address, with a covering letter asking that it is also taken into consideration with The ESA50.

Hi there, once again thanks for your advice. I managed to get the dam form in on time - just. Consequently, due to a lack of sleep and a sudden feeling of stir-crazyness, I made an error or two. I don't think it will matter regarding the overall result, but for one of the descriptors I ticked the wrong box - I ticked no when I meant to say yes. It is at odds with my comment in the use this space box. Will common sense prevail, or is it likely that my answer for this descriptor will be completely overlooked.

Common sense has never been a phrase that I would associate with the ESA process.

The simplest solution is to write a short letter explaining the error and send it to ATOS at the same address as your ESA50. See

Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS

Hello there

My wife phoned ATOS today to find out if my daughters ESA50 had been looked at, it's only been about a fortnight since we sent it off. The man said "oh yes she's passed and she does not have to have a medical, and we should hear from DWP in due course". Therefore, it would seem that our efforts with your invaluable advice has being worthwhile for my daughter - so far of course. So far so good- I'm not going to get too carried away just yet - we'll wait for something through the post. Unfortunately, my wife didn't ask which group Atos had pointed to for her. Do you have any advice regarding what to do next if anything. In the meantime, thank you to the moderators for your advice and guides.
