PIP lenght of award was created by Orangeblossom
I had a medical for PIP last week and at the end the lady said she could see the condition was not going to improve with time therefore she would recommend a long review date on my award (which sounded promising). How long are such review dates for PIP? Many thanks :)

Award length should be reflective of how likely the claimant is to see improvements in their conditions, I'm not sure whether any of the statistics produced for PIP would actually show how well this is being done, but with so many delays in the system to date, no reports have so far been produced that would be relevant to this question.

Awards fall into three categories;

Short term awards
Shorter term awards will last up to two years. The DWP will make these awards where they expect a change in your ability to carry out the activities in the assessment.

Long term awards
Longer term awards could last up to five or ten years. The DWP will make these awards when they consider changes in your condition are less likely but could still be possible.

On-going awards
On-going awards may be made in a small number of cases, where the DWP consider that a change in your condition is unlikely.

It is also worth noting that the DWP are re-assessing claimants a year before the end of their award (short and long term awards), it's not clear yet whether this replaces or is in addition to any renewal assessment that be made before the end of their award, we know of a claimant who received what we believe to be a new PIP2 form three days after they received the Decision Notice for their two year award (it had taken a year for a Decision to be made).
