2016 Changes and ESA associated cutbacks?

Following suggestions on here I attempted to contact The NI/Pension people.
All the courtesy phones in the Job Centre had been removed and replaced by a cheap Mondrian sofa.
Very nice but totally useless for contacting The DWP/NI/Pension people.
The phone service all went a few weeks ago.
I did get through after a 3 mile bus trip
to & in an internet café.
The Pension people told me the number of qualifying years would probably be irrelevant after 2016-as a new system based on whether the claimant had spent life in work or life on the dole would dispense accordingly.either full pension or a few crumbs of a token one.
They said people with even over 40 Years credits would be analysed using these new criteria.
Thus I deem it pointless chasing further NI credits not knowing if its a waste of time & with The Govt NI credits apparently going to be devalued anyway.
Are you going to incorporate on The forum Pensions Issues as this would appear to be becoming the new battleground?
ESA would seem to pretty much a dead duck for me now.

Fair enough. I hope it all works out for you.

J,

This is first that I have heard of the changes that you mention, nor have I read of them anywhere on "The Internet"

I am afraid that we cannot really offer any other meaningful advice of this subject.

Maybe you should re-contact the Pension Service :

www.gov.uk/contact-pension-service

and your M.P., for clarification :

Contacting your MP

Gordon & Bro,Thanks for all your assistance in the past.As I say for me the struggle now moves to Pensions. It appears The Govt is bent on renaging on honouring the commitments of the post war pension promise to supply pensions to all .I suppose they further want to penalise those whos NI contribution was paid for them invalidating them.
So until we meet again in this arena all my thanks to you both and Mrs Hurtyback.
I hope to maintain my subscription to the service with the hope that 2016 will be taken on board & incorporated in your site.

J,

As I have stated, I am not aware of the "supposed changes" that you speak of.

I would not take what you have been told as "gospel" you may have misunderstood, or more likely it is simply more misinformation being given out by the person in question.

The best way to put your own mind at rest is to broach the subject with your M.P.

Yes Bro I forgot,of course I am para phrasing what was told me in as many words
& of course everyone gets their NI paid working or not,but the plan seemed to be to divide from records those who were in work in a particular year from those who were not.
Then to operate percentages accordingly.Like someone in work 80%of the period would get a higher pension award than someone out of work 80%of the time in the same 'qualifying'period.(30 Years or whatever).
This obviously penalises long term sick and jobless once they reach pension age & favours those who have "worked hard all their lives"hence "making work pay".
There may be a possibility that the long term sick and jobless pension might vanish all together if taken to extremes.
Have a nice afternoon,bye
James
