my son peter who is now 16 was born 11 wks prem he sufferrd an intercranial head bleed resulting cerebral palsy hydrocephlaus vp shunt insitu learning dificulties and is austiic he was awarded dla indefinately until now at 16 he was invited to apply for pip filled out the 40 page document on his behalf as i am peters carer parent stressing how peters disabilities effect his every day life especialy peters learning diffulties and autism form was sent off end of june 2014 capita have just replied by anoucning they have arranged a face to face assessment at our home with peter this fills me with dread because of peters autism his behaviour can be extreme it will also cause him agreat deal stress i really think this assessment should not goe ahead the so called health care proffesional should have read the pip form plus accomping documents from peters consultants and made a decision please could you give any advice on this matter

Welcome to the forum.
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I am afraid that you have few if any options with regard to an assessment, the DWP have deferred responsibility for assessment to the PIP Assessment Providers, if they have decided that an assessment is required then this is because the they do not believe that there is sufficient medical evidence to support a Decision without one.
You can see whether there is any additional evidence that can be provided, perhaps those responsible for his treatment can provide additional letters, these may result in the AP changing their view.
However, if they still require an assessment then you will either have to allow it to take place or refuse, but if you do refuse then the PIP claim will be terminated and as a consequence, so will his current DLA claim. I do not believe that this would be an appealable Decision.
