Hi
Received letter today
Have been awarded standard rate living component and standard rate mobility.
When on DLA I was on lower rate care component and higher rate mobility component !! ??
Benefit wise I am about £2 a week worse off but was able to qualify for motability car under DLA which I cant now as you need the enhanced rate mobility.
I have spoken to motability today to ask a few questions and must say very helpful they were telling me they now have a dedicated team to deal with these senarios as they are snowed under them.
Not surprising
My claim started in March 2014 ,I did not have a face to face that was cancelled when I arrived at the Capita offices upon being told they had all info needed in paperwork,in the paperwork I submitted I enclosed G P Letter and copies of any hospital letters/discharge letters that were sent to my GP.
Many thanks to the Benefits and Work guides which were so, so helpful..Thanks again
The award starts December 2014 for an ongoing period ? any ideas on what that could mean
many thanks

Hi pw,

Congratulations on The PIP Awards !! :)

We have heard from another member this week who has gone from HR Mobility DLA to Standard Rate Mobility PIP, and they may also lose their Mobility Lease Car :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=top...=10&id=102361#126599

Of course you do have the option of challenging the Standard Mobility by requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) within one month of the date of The PIP Decision Notice letter.

You would have to risk assess how safe your current PIP awards are, as there may be some risk to them in requesting an MR/Appeal.

See : Our PIP MR/Appeals Guides.

A PIP award "For an ongoing period" is the nearest equivalent that you will get to an "Indefinite" DLA award.

The few "Ongoing Period" awards that I have heard of have been with a recommendation for review of 10 years, and one would therefore expect to be reassessed circa December 2023. (1 Year before the end of the 10 years)

"Ongoing Period" awards with no recommendation date would only be given where there was very little expectation of any change in the claimant's condition.

As with DLA Indefinite Awards, they can review your award before that time.

Hello again
what I did forget to mention was that motability did say they extend the date on by 3 weeks to get alternative arrangements and you can get up to £2000 off them once the car is returned to help you get set up,as I said very helpful
