There are no timescales for the DWP to deal with an ESA3 although I would have expected you to have heard something by now so you might want to think about contacting them for an update.

I note you said in a previous post "I am in the support group so this is based on National Insurance Contributions", this is actually not the case, being in the Support Group and receiving ESA due to your NICs are actually separate things, receiving ESA(CB) does not place you in the SG and you can receive ESA(IR) as well as ESA(CB) while in the SG.

The ESA3 captures information about your income, assets and savings and whether a partner works.

As you are in the Support Group you are eligible to receive the Enhanced Disability Premium (£15.55/week), whether you are entitled to payment will depend on whether you pass the means test in order to receive an ESA(IR) top-up.

I hope this makes it clearer.

Heffy wrote: Following on from posting on this thread where I had been approached to attend a WFI which when I eventually was able to get them to say it was voluntary because I am in the support group, I was then sent an ESA3 form which I completed and sent off just after Christmas. I havent heard anything back as yet and wonder how long it will take to hear or even if I will if everything stays the same, although I am sure thats difficult for you to say. My money has continued to be paid so whilst I had been told that the interview was mandatory and my money would be stopped if I didnt attend the WFI, before finding out that wasnt the case. It has been ok. Can you advise on the ESA3 form time limit and if they will indeed reply. I dont expect to get any more money nor any less, my circumstances are unchanged. Thank you.

Hi H,

Thanks for the update !!

If has been no Change in your Circumstances, and all is O.K. with the ESA 3 Form, it is highly likely that you will hear no more.

They only tend to recontact you if something is "amiss" !!

You may also hear from them if you are entitled to added IR ESA payments.

Thank you both for the prompt and helpful replies.Much appreciated. Due to my financial situation and overall circumstances there is no way I would receive anything extra on top of my existing ESA payments so I am really hoping I wont hear anything back. Thanks again. Its a marvellous job you all do on here. Excellent stuff.
