PIP form gone.....all in the hands of fate.... was created by Stressed out Mum
Well, the PIP form for my son has been delivered and signed for at DWP mail handling centre this morning....so now for the wait!!
Have sent the form, plus additional information and specific examples for the descriptors in which my son's functional skills are most affected by his autism, plus functional reports from autism team, speech therapist, OT and Educational Psychologist, plus statement of SEN and annual review from school.....it was £8-45 to post!!
Am hoping against hope for a paper based assessment because I really don't feel a F2F with my son will help much, as he will be so overwhelmed he will not be able to look at or speak to, an assessor. Unfortunately, most reports are more than 2 years old as he has developmental disorders which fundamentally don't change much, and because he is well supported in his special school and by us, he doesn't have any 'acute' issues. Plus we have to fight for any interventions here as reviews etc are ot offered in our county. So have tried to really paint a full picture.
NOTE: I lost heart many times whilst doing the forms as so many people seem to be refused.....would it be possible to have a pinned thread for success stories on the forum?????

My other worry is that if they contact his school, staff will fail to spell out the fact that things he apparently 'can' do there are largely because of th fact that they are a specialist school, with highly skilled staff, intrinsic high levels of support and great persistence! So I may decide to have a meeting with his teacher to hint that the positive spin they put on everythig for parents will in fact be very detrimental if expressed in the same way to Capita!!

Thanks for reading - if you've stuck with me this long!

We've tried a pinned topic for successes before and it didn't work very well as members started asking questions in it. We mark all successful posts with a heart so they are easier to find in the topic list.

Good luck with the application

I think that, in many ways, this is now the hardest bit. You have done everything you can and now you 'just' have to sit and wait. I hope that you get a favourable result without too much of a wait. Please try to relax, forget all about DWP and enjoy Christmas.

Try and put it to the back of your mind, relax and enjoy xmas, I do think you will wait a while. I had mine received by ATOS on June the 5th and I have heard nothing since,I sometimes forget completely that I am in the system for DLA to PIP transfer.

Just an update - am feeling somewhat stunned - I rang Capita yesterday, just on a whim whilst filing away PIP paperwork, to check that my claim is in the system and to see if they could give any idea of timescales for F2F as my son is stressing about it.

The lady said that they have already completed their report, a paper based assessment and that it was returned to DWP decision maker on 2nd January!!!

So by my calculation, 8 working days from forms being signed for at DWP

She did say that the information I supplied was extremely comprehensive and expertly cross-referenced with the 'medical' evidence and that because of that they felt totally confident in making a fully informed recommendatiin to decision maker

Of course not counting chickens just yet - as it could mean it's just a no!!!

But how amazingly quick!!!!! She indicated a decision would probably be with me in 2-3 weeks

Wanted to share the positive experience so far, and of course much of this is thanks to the excellent information and guidance on here :)

Hi SoutM,

This does sound promising !!! :)

Due to the huge backlog with PIP Claims, PIP Assessment Providers (Capita & ATOS) have been encouraged to carry out paper based assessment where at all possible.

The fact that you have provided such comprehensive information will of course have helped the assessor to carry out such an assessment.

2-3 Weeks may be a tad optimistic, but at least you know that the recommendations are now with The DWP PIP Decision Maker.

Here is hoping that the correct PIP award is made !! :)

Please do keep us all updated, here.
