DLA renewal help was created by lizzieuk1
Hi
My DLA ends in May 2015 and  so far as I'm aware my postcode (ox) won't go onto pip yet so I assume I will need to renew my DLA.
Am I right to think they will automatically send me the forms in good time and that i should return in good time??
What is the current turnaround for DLA renewal being received to award decision? Don't want to loose my current award if they change it before it runs out iuswim?

Also my situation is very much the same as when I filled in the forms before, well except now I have 2 more children to care for!! So can I basically use my old answers or will they compare the old forms and new??

Renewals for DLA and invitations for PIP are being sent out about 20 weeks in advance of the current award ending, if you have not received anything by about 16 weeks I would chase the DWP.

In either case you need to return the required documentation by the dates specified or you risk your claim being closed, we are recommending members to use a tracked delivery so that they have proof that their forms have been returned.

I would expect a new DLA Decision to be made in 11-13 weeks under normal circumstances.

In principle you can complete the form as before, there have been no updates to DLA for several years. It is unlikely that the DWP will refer to your previous claim forms but it is not impossible, so you should give some consideration to updating you response, I would certainly recommend that you go through the DLA Claim guides to make sure you are putting the best case forward possible.

Thanks Gordon funnily enough the renewal arrived just after I posted. I've yet to fill it in though as with 3 kids under 4 I struggle for time! Think I'll be doing some late nights soon :(

Just to emphasise the importance of returning and confirming your forms have been returned before the renewal date. If they are late and you cannot show Good Cause then your DLA claim will be closed, if you live on the UK mainland you will then only be able to make a new claim for PIP.
