JA

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I've given up trying to second guess the results of an ESA assessment, but the assessor leaving the room could indicate that they sought advice in regard to a Support Group recommendation, I hope this is the case, but I am afraid you will have to wait until the DWP make a Decision.

Best of luck

Gordon

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

It is hard to draw any conclusions, although I would not think that it was a "bad thing".

Assessors can curtail a Face to Face if they feel that they have gleaned enough information/evidence to make a recommendation for an award of ESA.

The Assessor would have compiled an ESA85 Medical Report which will be sent electronically to The DWP ESA Decision Maker (DM).

You could give it a couple of weeks, then contact The DWP for an update :

THE ESA PHONE NUMBER DWP : 0345 608 8545 Press Option 3 for ESA.

The length of time taken for The DM to make a decision will depend on the work load of that particular team/office.

In the mean time, as your husband is transferring over to ESA from IB, you may wish to peruse our : IB, IS, SDA, Migration to ESA FAQ’s

&

Our : ESA FAQ’s

Best of luck, and I hope that he receives the correct ESA Award.

Please do keep us updated !! :)

My husband just got his reply from w&p contribution based employment and support allowance and placed in support group,do you think he will have to have a face to face for his move from dla to pip which could come up anytime after oct 2015,given i understand they cross match info, for esa and pip.thanks for your guides i do not think i could have filled in his forms for esa without them.

Hi j52,

That is really good news !!! :cheer:

It seems that the ATOS Assessor had enough evidence to make a recommendation for entry to The Support Group (SG)

As Gordon stated, they probably left the room to gain permission to curtail the assessment and make the recommendation.

The DWP ESA Decision Maker obviously agreed with The SG recommendation.

As you will see in The SG Decision Notice letter, it does not tell you when your hubby should expect to be reassessed.

For information on how to obtain this information, and how to request other information that may help with his next reassessment, (Maybe with PIP as well, when the time comes) have a read through : This Post.

You are right in that they are using ESA Medical Reports (The ESA85 in hubby's case) as an aid to making PIP decisions and vive-versa.

How much credence is given to the ESA Documentation generated as a result of your hubby's recent SG award would depend on the amount of time that had passed before he is eventually invited to claim PIP.

The more current any evidence is, the better.

If you do request and receive his ESA Documentation, and you feel that it is positive supporting evidence in qualification for PIP, there is nothing to stop you copying it, and sending it with your PIP 2 Form.

Here is our in-site information regarding PIP for when the time comes :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

For now, you can relax, and concentrate on dealing with hubby's medical conditions. :)
