Hi quick update
I rang first thing this morning, the person i spoke to this time said the complete opposite of what i was told on tues, i am still on JSA ,so they said they would pass my details on to the processing department. Two hours later i got a call from processing dept ,they said they had not got my letter or fit note and that it may be stuck somewhere in the backlog. They said they were now going to close my JSA claim and reinstate ESA .They said this would be done before my next JSA payment is due so i would not be without money.I asked if it would be confirmed in a letter and was told yes.Unfortunately i didnt get the name of the person.

Have just phoned up to see if they have transferred me back to esa yet and was told i am still on jsa, explained to call handler that had spoken to someone in prosessing on friday and could he refer my case back to them and asked for a call back but he couldnt even though the call handler on friday had no problem with this.He said i have to call jsa myself and close it then ring esa and ask for claim to be restarted am worried if i close jsa will be left with no money.I have asked for call back from supervsor he was very reluctant to do this had to ask about 5 times, are they deliberately trying to stop people getting back onto esa whilst appealing?

This is not our understanding of the procedures that the DWP should be using, once the DWP receive notification from the Tribunal Service of the request for appeal and the claimant informs them that they want to be put on the ESA Assessment rate (including a Fit Note), then the DWP should handle everything from their.

There should be no requirement for the claimant to cancel their JSA claim in order to re-claim ESA.

Whilst it is not impossible that that the DWP are doing this deliberately I think it far more likely that it simply the result of incompetence and a lack of training.

Miraculously i was called back at 4.30 by regional benefit centre that is dealing with my ESA.This time i got the name of person who said she would make sure JSA close claim and she would reinstate ESA ASSESS rate tomorrow and send off letter as soon as it is actioned.Still no sign of either of my recorded delivery letters,so assume after been signed for at Wolverhampton are now lost somewhere in the labyrinthine DWP internal post system. Is it normally this difficult to transfer back to ESA after a MAND REC if youve claimed JSA?
