PO

There have been considerable delays in the ESA system for over a year, whilst it is not something to aim for, I believe our current record for the time between returning the ESA50 and being asked to attend an assessment is 16 months.

Hi Sash
Just wanted to ask if you would be kind enough to update your post in the future, if you recieve another reassessment appointment, if you receive an esa50 form to fill in before hand or if you hear anymore about your claim. I will do the same if I hear anything as well.
Many thanks, hope you do not mind me asking but we do seem to be in the same boat.
Take care

Hi
Just a quick update, I now know why my appointment was cancelled, I told Atos and DWP that I would have great difficulties using 82 steps in an emergency at the assessment centre and therefore my appointmant was cancelled, which I did not find out until I was actually in that building for my appointment. I had also got my MP involved and only found out what had happened when I read my MP's letter. The DWP are now suggesting I take a 45 minute car journey to ground floor assessment centre, even though I have told them on many occasions that I cannot stay seated for even 10 minutes before needing to get up and move around due to the Chronic Pain I suffer from. The MP's office got in touch with DWP and they told them that the reason that I was not sent an esa50 form in February before my appointment letter is because I sent them a deterioration in my condition letter in March, they would have recieved it two days before my reassessment date in fact. That comment is bazarre but the DWP worker stuck to his guns and said I will have to get a letter from my GP to say I am not fit to travel that distance. I am worried that if I must travel that distance in the end will the DWP use it against me, even though I will be in extreme pain during that journey and afterwards, it will actually take me days to recover from and it could bring on a flare up that will take me weeks to cover from. Sorry back to the letter I sent in, that is now being called a deterioration in condition letter, it actually was purely to update them on my current condition or they would using the information on an esa50 form form December 2013 or no form at all.
Thanks for all your help

You do have to wonder at the intelligence of some of the ESA call centre staff!

I am afraid the assessor will most definitely take into account how you got to the assessment as part of their review, the only way you will receive a closer assessment or a home assessment will be if your GP intervenes in writing so you really need to speak to them about your problems attending.

Hi Gordon
Just an up date. I am still very puzzled about the reply I was given regarding the lack of an esa50 form before my F2F, which was cancelled due to issues using stairs in an emergency. So I have written to CHDA quoting the explanation I received and I have explained the fact that I sent in my up to date on my condition letter three weeks after I received an interview date and can they please explain why an esa50 form was not sent out as the the first reply makes no sense at all. I have also asked them to explain why they are not sending me a form to fill in now before I receive another F2F date, if that is what they chose to do now I have brought it to their attention again.
I have also asked them what is the timescale I need to get my medical evidence in to them by, as this information was also missing from their reply. I have managed to get an appointment with my GP but not until next week to discuss the matter.
As you have now said on this website that every claimant should send in or take with them to the F2F a new esa50 form I am preparing my answers now and I will print a copy off even if I do not receive one.
Thank you for all your help I will keep you posted.

Sorry I just wanted to ask a question, in January 2013 which is the last time I had a F2F I was awarded 9 points for the sitting/standing descriptor and 6 points for the reaching descriptor, these points were awarded through the HCPs observations of me during the interview, as I have had no improvement, in fact a deterioration in my condition, can I use the fact I was awarded those points now to my advantage if my claim goes to a mandatory reconsideration or tribunal?
As the HCP in 2013 did not ask me any questions on mobilising I complained and I was placed in the support group, remember mobilising, sitting/standing descriptors are linked.
