ESA review? was created by paul
I am in the ESA support group for a couple of years. But now they have sent an ESA50 form to fill in! I don't understand why? Is this some kind of review? Does this mean I have to qualify all over again, or is it just to see if anything has changed? Worried!

Hi p,

All ESA Awards are reassessed periodically.

Each award comes with a recommended period before reassessment. (The Prognosis)

Under normal circumstances, the longest prognosis is 3 years.

It looks like your time has come to have your ESA Support Group (SG) Award reassessed.

You should treat this as a totally fresh reassessment as the Assessor who will now work for : The Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (CHDA) (Maximus) who took over the ESA WCA Contract from ATOS on 02/03/15, may not be aware that you are in The SG, nor may they have access to your historical evidence.

You should therefore make them aware that you are currently in The SG, and that your medical conditions have not improved since your last reassessment nor have your resulting limitations diminished, that being the case of course.

You must fill in and return the ESA50 by th deadline date given, and you might wish to consider : Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire

Whilst referring to the guides on this page :

Hi P

Were you awarded two years in the SG, and are now coming to the end of that period, or part way through an award ?

As bro58 mentions, you may be coming up for your reassessment. You also may have drawn the short straw and missed out on the two year referral period.

Hi D,

It doesn't matter really ! :)

Now that P has received the ESA50 through the post, he must fill it in and return it by the deadline date given.
