Hello

Sometimes I get myself all paranoid that a worse case scenario is going to happen, and I worry myself sick for ages, then, when I do tell someone, it turns out I was worrying about nothing all along, and was just being paranoid.

My latest paranoia is this. I am on DLA and am on contributions based ESA. I also have a pension of £518 a month.
I am getting myself all in a tizzy about the possibility of contributions based ESA being abolished and me being 80-odd quid a week worse off. My ESA works out at 80-odd quid a week.

If contributions based ESA gets abolished, please can someone confirm that I will not be 80-odd quid a week worse off, when/if this cut comes into force.
Will I be placed on income based ESA for 12months then after the 12 months is up, be 80-odd quid a week worse off, or will my income just be axed by 80-odd quid a week.

Sorry if this sounds really paranoid, my mental health has taken a nose dive this week and I accept that I may be being irrational.

Hi C,

It is impossible to give a definitive answer.

If they do bring in any changes to CB ESA/IR ESA, or any other "Benefits" they may also change the rules on how said changes are applied.

As things stand in an IR ESA means test your Works Pension Income would be deducted £ for £ from any IR ESA entitlement.

We should know more after the Budget on 08/07/15.

Until then it is all pure speculation.

Hi k,

I have deleted your comments as I consider them inappropriate.

I note that you have made 10 posts since last night, most of them are, in my opinion, inappropriate.

I understand that you may have suffered bad treatment at the hands of DWP/ATOS in the past, but posting what seems to be "angry" personal opinions does not help anyone.

You are still most welcome to post supportive informative posts, or pose any queries that you may have within the remit of the forum !! :)

A pension means you are only entitled to limited ESA even in the contributory support group as we have just discovered. My husband's ESA was recently halved due to his pension, which he started to receive from his initial claim in 2007, and was declared then, and mentioned by me in letters to DWP last year, and by him to his Job Centre contact he had to see for a year. DWP say they have no record of ever being told he received his pension, and their Fraud office are looking into us paying back money.

Since I would not want anyone else to be in this position, can I mention that you should tell DWP in writing, keeping a copy, of the pension. I send all my letters by recorded delivery, but they still deny they have them! Plus, our job centre contact has left so DWP say they cannot access her records. All of this has made my husband suicidal and me worrying I will be prosecuted for Fraud as well. Even recent mail to DWP that recorded delivery tracking states arrived has been denied, and I have just had to post over 30 pages of copies once again - they really are useless. The phone number they printed on their letters is a dead line as well.

Try and get face to face advice, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county, you need support from an advisor who can sit down with you and go through the paperwork.
