Hello. My current esa sg is for 2 years so I tried to find out what the date was for the upcoming assessment. I was told mid October. It turns out the only person who can accompany me will be away on holiday so I phoned again to try to find out the exact date so that I could explain my situation. A different person said not until 2017 and explained it was because there was a backlog. Now I'm completely stumped and just don't know what to do. Can anyone give me any advice please?

Hi f1,

There is still a backlog with ESA reassessments, and many ESA recipients have had their reassessment date deferred to a later date due to the backlog.

It looks like your reassessment has been deferred.

Have a read through : This Topic and this : More Recent One.

These deferrals have been going on since January 2014.

If for some reason your reassessment does begin at some date in the future, and you are required to attend a face to face (which is not a definite if you can provide enough written evidence) and no one is available at that time to accompany you, you are allowed to rearrange an appointment for a face to face once.

You would do so by contacting CHDA (Maximus) once you received the letter of appointment.

Just to add, : The Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (CHDA) (Maximus) who took over the ESA WCA Contract from ATOS on 02/03/15. are now carrying out assessments and reassessments.

Thank you for replying so quickly bro58. I've spoken to yet another person to explain the situation and they said there is no date down on my file but that that doesn't mean anything. :(
They also said something about 2017 but then went back to October again, I'm massively panicking as I can't work out how they work out the dates - 2 years ago I got the form on 3rd August and it was posted back for 3rd September, and assumed the 2 years would be up on 3rd August again, but it doesn't work like that. This person mentioned 29th October, but I need to know if I will get the form on the 29th September, in that case, or the 29th October. I know you can't tell me, I know, sorry. And I see there's lots of other posts on this subject, thank you for giving the links. They told me not to worry ..... how can you not worry?? :( :(

If it would help you to be prepared, you could start filling out the PDF version of the form now and keep it updated if anything changes. Then you would be ready to go whenever the dreaded form drops on your mat!

Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire

Thanks Mrs Hurtyback. I will prepare but it's the time thing, not only do I have to make sure it's a day when this other person can go with me, apart from being on holiday that week, they work long and unsociable hours the rest of the time, and I also need to make an appointment to see my GP who supports me, but getting to see them at short notice is like finding gold - I'm not trying to throw down awkward scenarios, I just keep going around in circles. If I could get a definite date I could make the appointment and try to sort things out.

Hi f1,

Whenever the time does come to return your ESA50 to Maximus, don't forget to mention any dates that you or your companion will not be available to attend a face to face.

That way, if they do arrange an appointment for one of those dates, you should be able to rearrange without the first appointment being counted as one of your two chances to attend.

Good luck ! :)
