Hi i know lots of people have been getting phone calls recently to check up on them.

This morning i had one ,the women said it was a mandatory benefits review.
She asked me lots of questions which i answered , my circumstances have not changed in any way.At the end she said they would be writing to me.

I have severe anxiety and depression, and am still recovering from the suicidal episode that occured from having to go to an esa tribunal in april this year. The DWP have been made aware that i cannot cope with phone calls unless pre arranged and that they should contact me only by letter if possible.I had a huge panic attack after the phone call.

I am extreamly worried now that i am going to be reassessed even though the tribunal put me in the support group for 2 years.

All of the phone calls that members have been receiving have been looking at their eligibility for benefit not their entitlement, in other words they have not been looking at their health and limitations, so I do not see any reason why this call would initiate a re-assessment.

If you have informed the DWP of your problems in taking unplanned calls, then you might want to make a complaint.

Complaining to the DWP

Hi i am very worried

Since the phone call ,i have today received a letter saying they are reviewing my claim.

They want more information about where i live and the people i live with

They have sent a form to fill out.

My situation is that i am a lodger in someones house and rent one of their spare rooms,i claim housing benefit for this and it is paid directly to them.
I have been there for about 15 years as we are both happy with the arrangement and because it is difficult to find private rented accommodation in my area that will accept housing benefit.

I am worried the DWP are trying to say we are a couple because my landlord is male.
Many years ago when i first claimed housing benefit the hosing benefit people tried to say the same thing,we were investigated and they quickly concluded that we are definately not a couple.I don't understand why it has suddenly become an issue for the DWP now as they have always been aware that i am a lodger claiming housing benefit.

These interfering government busybodies have to justify their salaries and benefits.

They do this by going through the files and looking for the easiest ones to target. Opposite sexes living under the same roof qualifies as such.
Send the info they require. Get your landlord to back it up. You could complain about them harrassing you as this arrangement has been in place for a number of years and investigated previously and still remains the same.

Is this not discrimination??

Why should you be assessed as living as a couple if of the opposite sex?

It is just as common these days to be a couple in a same sex relationship. Do they do this to male and female couples? I very much doubt it....! A bit of reverse homophobia in my opinion.
