Thank you very much for your advice and I have been back to cab and they cant understand why I was told what I was told, so as far as I know you are right. So as I understand it bescouse I wont be in the assesment phase I wont have to wait about 13 weeks, so it should work like this. Letter from dwp, then wait for phone call, then wait for questionair, then the dreaded medical assessment. Thank you

Hi b72,

Thanks for the update, and I'm glad that CAB admitted that the advice they gave you was incorrect ! :)

That's right, there is no Assessment Phase for SDA, IS or IB transfers to ESA, only for claimants that make a totally fresh claim for ESA.

So you will continue to receive your current payments right up until a decision on your ESA is made, then if successful, your payments should change seamlessly without any breaks in payment, to ESA.

As previously advised, if you do not receive your ESA50 within 7-14 days of the phone call, you can ring ESA to see where it is !!

It is not a definite that you will have to attend a face to face assessment, if you can provide enough evidence with the ESA50 they can carry out a "paper based assessment" where no face to face is needed.

Many, many of our members have successfully transferred to ESA from SDA, IS or IB on a paper based assessment alone.

Hia, im not to sure wether ive got this right or wrong but if I am placed in the the wrag group of esa am I right that I wont get a disibilty premium even if I am on dla middle rate for personal care as I have read that the government has done away with this unless you are in the support group. Thank you

Hi b72,

I think you are getting confused, you can receive ESA (Disability) Premiums if in The WRAG !

I clarified this for you in : My Post Earlier on In This Topic

I really don't know where you are picking up all this errant information, but you can be assured that anything that Gordon and I have told you thus far is accurate. :)

We don't "Guess", if we don't know the answer to a query, we will say so ! :)

You might be getting mixed up with the fact that The Government are trying to pass a Bill where the extra WRA Component addition payment is not paid to claimants who get into The WRAG.

i.e. Even though they were awarded ESA, they would only be paid the same as a JSA claimant.

See : This News Article

Even if this does get pushed through, it will not come into force until April 2017, it will not affect people who are already receiving ESA, and has nothing to do with payment of ESA Premiums.

Hi bro58 I think we are getting confused, I didn't mean for jsa, I mean if I get into the wrag because I get dla middle rate care I would probably, get the sdp but I've read because of universal credit coming in it will be abolished so I would just get the basic wrag amount and no sdp, and only if I'm on income related esa, but because I get sda I will likely get cb esa so as I'm lead to believe on governments website if I get in the wrag I will just receive the wrag amount and that's all. Sorry I know that you know what your on about but that's what I read. Thanks
