ESA50 F2F Invite was created by bmeenan
Hi Mods

We submitted a very detailed ESA50 claim form to continue my wife's ESA claim (currently in Support Group), containing numerous hospital letters and diagnostic reports together with letters of support from my wife's clinicians.

Whilst not totally unexpected (from members comments elsewhere on the Forum), my wife has been invited to a F2F in a few weeks time.

Just one question:

1 - is there any official method for seeking confirmation that before inviting my wife to a F2F Assessment, that either the DWP or Maximus have actually read the submitted paperwork?

Many thanks

Hi
There is no way of challenging the decision to invite your wife to a f2f.
You could ring and ask if they have read the paperwork but the person on the phone will not be the one making the decision so will not be able to give you any assurance that all the paperwork has been read.

Although you say that you have submitted numerous hospital letters and diagnostic reports do any of them specifically address the issue of your wife being unable to attend at Maximus's offices and why?

Hi Gordon, I was just wondering if there was any official way of ensuring that our submitted paperwork had been read as we had hoped for a Paper Assessment without a F2F, considering the supporting info that we sent. We suspect that no one will have taken the trouble to read what we submitted as we are now quite simply on a production line. Thank you

There's no way to establish whether your wife's ESA50 and attached evidence have been read, they should have been in order to decide that an assessment is required, but we are aware that this does not already happen.

Unfortunately, there is no magic formula for guaranteeing a paper assessment, the decision lies wholly with Maximus. You may be able to arrange a home assessment, assuming that this is doable for your wife but you will need a specific statement by her GP or other HCP that she cannot travel to an assessment centre and why.

The only other thing I can suggest is for you to contact her MP, it might just push them into taking a more suitable approach.

Hi Mods
A couple of months ago, we advised DWP of some Change of Circumstances, one good but two bad.

We promptly received an ESA50, which was completed with numerous supporting information.

A F2F was organised but has now been cancelled by the arranging office, based on "new information received".

We have now received a one page letter referring to our original Change of Circumstances and the evidence we supplied (not sure if this could mean the ESA50 as the DWP were not sent a copy of it by us)?

The letter confirms an award of the Support Component!

There is no reassessment period mentioned and no reason why they have decided this. Any idea why this may be - just a bit loathed to ring and ask if further paperwork will soon be received.

Obviously, we are extremely relieved at this (and amazed hearing all of the stories around).

Many thanks
