Hi. I am wanting to put in a fresh claim for PIP at the moment I am on the lower amount for the daily living and nothing for the mobility. The award was granted approx. 2 years ago but my health has worsened a great deal. Could anyone tell me if I have to make a fresh claim. How do I approach the call centre when I ring up and ask for a new claim do I have to go into all my health issues. I hate asking for financial help but I really do need more assistance. I work full time and my work has made a lot of adaptions for myself to help with my disabilities, any help or advise would greatly be appreciated. thank you Sue

Hi s,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

As it seems that you already have an existing PIP Award, you do not have to make a "fresh claim" !!

You would have to report the changes or deteriorations in your medical conditions to DWP as a Change of Circumstances. (C of C)

You can do this in the form of letter posted to the address of The DWP Benefits Office/Centre on your most recent PIP letter :

Sending Documents to the DWP, ATOS, Capita or Maximus.

Reporting a C of C to PIP will involve you going through a totally new assessment process,

You should be aware that as well as your current award being increased or you receiving a new award, that you could also lose an existing award.

As it is the limitations that you suffer as a result of your medical conditions that may result in you receiving the correct number of points for the appropriate PIP Award, you might want to check first to see whether you can easily attain the extra points needed to gain an Enhanced Daily Living Award, and the minimum 8 points required for a Standard Mobility Award.

See the following :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link down the page)

Hi. I have completed my PIP claim for and sent it off this Saturday. Any idea how long it will be before I hear from them, I sent hospital apt letters. My admission to hospital letter. Provided details of my consultants nursing team gp names and addresses. I live in the Leeds area ohh this is a re claim due to my conditions getting a lot worse and needing more help. Will I have to go for a face to face or does the caseworker decide. Thank you any help advise would be good

Hi s,

I will merge your previous PIP topic with this one for continuity.

This is a question asked by members several times a week, see : This Topic

ATOS will be your PIP AP, and it is they who decide whether you will have to take part in a face to face or not.

You should Bookmark/Favourite this page in your Internet Browser now.

Thanks in anticipation of your future co-operation in keeping all your PIP related queries to this topic ! :)

I received my letter inviting me for my pip assesment 29th April the assesment centre was 23 miles each way. I rang the atos people up explained my difficulties in traveling that far asked them to provide a taxi, they then said I could have a apt at a centre 5 miles from me this Saturday 23rd and I can claim my taxi fare. Has anyone had any dealings with the Leeds assessors and do they seem to be fare in the reports. I have heard a lot of negative feedback re atos.. Thanks s
