I am a bit confused by this. The situation is, I need to follow a special diet for a bowel condition, if I don't I can end up in hospital with the NG tube / hydration and pain relief, and possible surgery. So, I have a care plan in place and a diet guide. I also have a mental health condition. This causes severe anxiety and I need support with planning , preparing food etc.
I feel i have maybe not explained this properly and assumed they would look at the care plan etc. I wondered about any advice on this? In particular does it still apply, if you need support to take suitable nutrition? I am guessing it is due to my symptoms not being as severe as at my last assessment- however my consultants and GP feel this is due to it being managed better and the support I am getting. I did feel this was explained in the application etc.
Any advice welcome.

Orangeblossom wrote: Thank you- I have written to ask them to send us the report they based it on, and then will see. Can i just check, this means that if it goes to appeal, there is now no chance of being called for an assessment? I feel a bit odd about this- last time I had a home visit which was good. Of course it is good not to have one, but surely we should have a chance of one. I guess the other option would be the appeal tribunal itself.
Technically it is possible, but I have never heard of it happening.

You will have to forgive me but the issues you raise in your post appear to be linked to Preparing Food not Eating and Drinking.
What do you mean by support to take nutrition?

d. Needs prompting to be able to take nutrition. 4 points.
For example, in my last assessment it said this was reasonable as I had a diet to follow, in care of a dietitian and consultant and have a mental health condition.
My issue is that I have to eat certain things or I get ill which is why it is so important. Many thanks.
PS I noticed the comment about if not prompted, the food eaten would be unacceptable quality. This would apply here for example I'd often just snack on biscuits for example.

You are going to need to show that you meet two legally defined definitions on the majority of days.
“Take nutrition” means:
(a) cut food into pieces, convey food and drink to one’s mouth and chew and swallow food and drink; or
(b) take nutrition by using a therapeutic source.
“Prompting” means reminding, encouraging or explaining by another person.
Also, the guidance says
The type of food and drink for nourishment is not a consideration for this activity, but rather the claimant’s ability to nourish themselves.

I have noticed the DM's reasoning says
"My conclusion from the evidence held is that you do not meet the eligibility for an award. There is not evidence of any functional restriction which would impact on your ability to... (areas where they have removed points)"
Does this mean they then need further evidence? If so, why didn't they ask the medical people mentioned of at least do a face to face? I'm confused.
Do you think I meed to try and get some further medical evidence, more recent perhaps? I could possibly ask the GP for a letter about the areas where they don't have the evidence, would that be an idea?
many thanks
