Thanks Gordon

Yes he came earlier today and we got his income based JSA claim in over the phone. It was hard work because at every opportunity they kept talking about UC. They’re determined to get everyone on it. Even the employee from the housing association who helped him get his housing benefit reinstated said the same.

Anyway that’s one hurdle gotten over. Phew, am exhausted already! Only about another 99 to get over ha! :)

Thanks again

Regards PP

Ps. It’s amazing that they don’t inform their staff of any changes such as the new ruling from 16th January. They do however put it up on their website and tv channels such as itv (Life on Benefits: Universal Credit? Tonight) last night at 7.30, get to find out and report on it.

Just saying!

PPS thanks for your patience Gordon

Hello Gordon.

Have realised I never got back to let you know how my brother got on, and also to say a massive thank you for all your help at the time.

In the end he decided not to appeal the esa decision and stay on JSA + DP and SDP. He just couldn’t find the strength to deal with an appeal, he is not well enough. He has to sign on once a fortnight still but so far fingers crossed he has not had any trouble from them. He did see a community advice worker who gave him a letter to take with him when he goes to Job Centre informing them that as he is in receipt of PIP and SDP etc would they take this into consideration regarding the job search commitment thingy. And as I said so far he’s been ok. When asked why he didn’t appeal esa decision, he said simply, “because I’m not well enough, the stress of it would kill me”.

I hope things hold out for him. He retires in 18 months. I honestly don’t know how they can say he’s fit to work. Fit to drop more like. I think job centre can see this and to their credit they have left him alone, for now!

Anyway Gordon thanks yet again. A simple thank you just does not seem adequate enough for all the help I’ve received from you over the last few, desperate at times, years. THANK YOU!!!!

Kindest regards Porthole :) :) :)
