Hello everyone,
I'm 68, been on DLA for years HR mobility MR care I didn't find this site until after I was 'invited' to apply for PIP unfortunately and had already filled out the necessary forms. I sent them back on 16th June and have today received a letter with an appointment for my face to face (13th July and I'm panicking like mad) The venue is in Plymouth which is 30 miles from where I live, however I saw here on the site that there is a centre only 3 miles away from my home. It would cause me a lot of pain to travel 30 miles each way and was wondering if you think I would be able to change to the one in Torquay or would that go against me if I tried. Any advice would be gratefully received please.

You can ask them to move the appointment to a closer assessment centre, you are allowed to re-arrange once and then you must attend the second appointment. I would phone them up with your diary to hand so that the new date can be booked over the phone and you don't have them sending you a new one at the same centre.

As suggested by Gordon (thank you) my husband rang the office this morning and they have changed the venue to the one in Torquay. It looks like my appointment at 9am, is the first of the day, so let's hope the assessor doesnt wake up in a grumpy mood.
