Well today i had too taken my son to our PIP tribunal at Walsall...my son became overwhelmed in front of the panel as one the assessors was adamant he spoke for himself ,even though it was made known too them i am his appointee!
Good news is ,his has been awarded enhanced care and low mobility !
What a amazing result after 0 points too a appeal of 4 points too this.....
So dont accept their decision ,challenge them !

Hello there,
Firstly you are allowed a spokesperson, you do not have too speak for yourself ! my son has me as his appointee also we were escorted from home too the court by our benefit welfare officer,he also came into the tribunal with us and spoke when i got lost for words ....we where given the decision within 10 mins and i have too say i was shocked but the benefit officer told us it is what he expected !
My son was terrified at the thought of the tribunal and i asked for a paper appeal ,but our benefit officer told us ,i may seem cruel at wanting to put David through this but i need the tribunal too see him raw ,how the stress and outside effects him ,and i have too say that they saw it all !
The tribunal was cut short by the judge because of my sons anxiety levels were through the roof,at one point he broke down ,which caused me too become overwhelmed and thats were the benefit officer took over....
My advice too you would be if you dont have a welfare benefit officer than seek one as they are worth there weight in gold ,i would never ,ever have got my son too the tribunal without ours!
You could appeal by paper, but our officer told us that a appeal the day before had been turned down for a woman with mental health who decided not too appear in person ... They asked me when what my sons meal times were,my answer was he could have his breakfast at tea time ,as he can be asleep all day or he can be awake for three days and three nights ,i cannot give you a straight too this ! days are never the same .
They asked ,how does David spent his days ,i answered what days ! he has nights not days ! he sleeps most days and is active at night....
Be brave and do yourself a favour and appear in person with someone for support, dont be ashamed of your illness and let them see what the DWP are doing too the sufferers of mental health , i have too say the gp on the panel looked so upset and shocked too see how my son was trembling and shaking with the stress of being there..
I hope i have helped you , if you need too ask me anything at all about the tribunal, the things that were asked ,anything at all ,please feel free too ask me
Brenda x

hi thanks so much for replying bk to me ,, ime waiting for all the imformation to arrive but i did pt on the appeal form that i wanted a oral hearing ,,i havnt got anyone as yet for support ,i dd contact catchup i think they are similar to what you had for your son ,bt the lady who deals with appeals is off sick until end of this month and ime panicking now as the pack could come anytime soon and ile only have a month from then to send in my submissions .my gp retired and have a new dr now and she isnt any help, said she wont do a detailed letter for me only a formal one ,i was refered to psycotherapist and has a assessment bk in november and was told ime on a list now ,still havnt heard anything so contacted them last week was told ime 20th on the list waiting ,, aked them for a updated letter to show for appeal that ime waiting for therapy and they jst told me to ask my GP as all letters get sent to doctors, just dont seem to be having much luck at all, and ime now thinking is it worth me bothering putting myself through this as it making my anxiety even worse than it was ,ime llucky to get a hrs sleep as sufferd insomnia for many years and all is on my mind is 24/7 is how am i going to be able to get there and if i do how am i going to be able to explain how one day is to the next as it can vary per hour never mind days,, but what uve said is true the way the dwp treat people is disgusting and they have no idea how much pressure they are actualy putting on unwell people wether it be mental health or physical is enormous , it must of been very hard for your son and yourself having to go throgh this but ime so happy he got what he deserves ,,ive never been in a court room in my life and the thought terrifies me ,,i will wait to see ifi get this phonecall now from this catchup and see what she says ,i didnt think anyone could speak for you u see ,ime relieved to know now that someone can , thankyou so much for your advice realy appreaciate you getting back to me , thankyou ,
