Well had my assessment today, wasn't at a physiotherapist as I thought but at a building they have basically taken over just for assessments, well I think I failed straight away as the walk from the car to reception was more than 20 metres, ( possibly on purpose?)
The very young nurse who did my assessment was very nice and made me feel quite comfortable but didn't have a clue to some of my problems, she didn't know what loss of lumbar lordosis was or ulnar neuritis, think she was straight out of med school, she went through the basics and asked me to do only a couple of simple movements. Was in for 40 mins At the end she asked what DLA award I have now HM LC she said I should get the same? But decision wasnt hers and anyway I should appeal as most appeals win if I don't get same award, I asked how long it would take for the decision and she said about 4 weeks. Well it's done now so just have to wait for the envelope. How long do I wait before I ask for a copy of the assessment?

I should leave it for a few days, give the report time to be produced and your file to be returned to DWP. Then you can contact DWP and ask for it.

Just phoned DWP up to ask for a copy of the assessment and they told me they don't send them out anymore until after a decision has been made.
Is this usual as I see on the forum that many get it before the decision has been made? Was hoping to get it so I could prepare myself just incase it wasn't good news

It's not usually an issue but we have had this reported before. You could try again, a different call centre operator may accept the request.

I rang up for a copy of my report three weeks ago and it never turned up. I rang last week and again yesterday and was told that it still hadn't been sent out due to staff shortages! Maybe they are just telling porkies as they don't want me to see it until a decision is made??? Cannot be too hard to pop a report in an enverlope and post it out?

Are you suggesting that the DWP staff might be economical with the truth, surely not! :)
