PIP to DLA chaos was created by caroline webb
Hello
I am sure we are not on our own here but wanted to share our experience on transferring from DLA to PIP and the pure bad luck we are having. I won't go into detail about my husbands illnesses but all I will say it is it is not good. Sent in the PIP form with all up to date reports, scans, mri's numerous care reports plans, letters of support, diaries and on. This was received at the handling house early last week and yesterday we received a consultation notification for early next week. Now, considering there was specific reference that certain officials had to be present and needed some notice I started to wonder if indeed any of his form was read at all. After telephoning dwp who said they do not look at any paperwork! who then told me to ring Atos, so I rang Atos and asked about the short notice of the appointment who then put the frighteners on me by saying in effect cancelling the consultation would mean everything lost! I asked if they had looked at the form as dwp said they would, purely because something became a bit obvious to me which I will explain later. Atos then said I needed to speak to dwp again as they have the information.

Anyway I will continue my rant, got onto dwp and apparently it has been admitted that nobody has read the form or the 50 plus supporting evidence pages and looks like Atos have acted on the home visit letter and it has become obvious that other procedures have not been done! Now, I asked about a letter which was enclosed from the doctors regarding a home visit which I found out that the receptionist faxed this over being very efficient (NOT) as she shouldn't have done, this was in June before they received the PIP form! This letter as well as a very extensive letter from the doctors was sent with the main pip form. What an absolute mess.

To me it is obvious that they got the letter, acted on it without any notification or pip form and now we are in limbo. I do feel that the least that should be done is they look at the paperwork before deciding a consultation is to take place if indeed needed. Where are we now??? in a desperate state and asking why us. We have been told the consultation has been cancelled.... do I believe them NO. Told someone will ring??? Sat here wondering why and to top it all the desperate state my husband is in seems life is so unfair, we are trying to come to terms with what is happening healthwise and its all getting too much now.
Also of note their consultation letter was dated Sunday, by my reckoning they had 3 days to process, read, scan the pip form.
Sorry about the rant but needed to share.

Hi caroline,

I'm sorry that you and your husband are having such a bad time at the hands of DWP and ATOS

Sometimes the claimant's MP can get the organisations to see sense when everything else seems to have failed

Contacting your MP

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to add more comments or questions about your husband's PIP claim without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

My husband and I have had a very stressful, difficult time over the last 18 months with ESA and DLA to PIP transferrence. We have just received notification that my husband has been awarded Enhanced Mobility and Enhanced Daily Living ongoing for 10 years. We have had so much support from our MP, welfare rights, doctors, specialists and your forum directing us in the right place with your valuable advice and guides. We have been in a place I would not like to put on anyone. So thank you and please keep up the good work your forum has been very valuable to us and good luck to all.
