Why only care not mobility forAttendance Allowance

My mother gets Attendance Allowance but seems to only cover care not mobility, yet she is totally immobile and needs someone to transport her everywhere.
Can she not claim any mobility benefit that would include motability to enable her to have a car that the family can transport her around in, as she either cannot get into various family vehicles or her wheel chair doesn't fit in!
Many thanks

Hi RN,

I'm afraid there is no new mobility benefit for older people*. I think the argument is that this is a normal part of ageing and everyone would be entitled to it.

*Anyone who has a mobility award of PIP/DLA before State Pension Age will keep it as long as they remain entitled.
