hi i have been calming income based ESA for the past few years claiming for myself and my partner as a dependent and have just been awarded pip standard rate living and standard rate mobility so my partner has put a claim in for careers allowance we got a letter today stating they need to look in to my esa claim further to work out what we are entitled to but my partner has been awarded carers allowance how will this affect the money i get and would i be better calming income support and if so do i have to cancel my esa first thanks

Carer's allowance certainly has an impact on income-related ESA as this adds to the household income.

It is not possible for us to say whether you would be better off claiming income-support as it would require you to share financial details at a level that is not appropriate on a public forum. I suggest that this is a case where you need to get face to face advice. Try an internet search for 'welfare advice' plus your town or post code.
