DLA to PIP assessment, queery? was created by treefrog
I had a one hour and ten minute face to face assessment in Swansea last friday 22/07/16, I was then told I would have to return for a further assessmet as I should have been given a double session of 1 1/2 hours. Is this normal? I was told a follow up appointment for a double assessment will be arranged by telephone, not by letter, the manager at the centre said an appointment by phone isn't normal.
I would like to know if this is legal? why was I only given a one hour appointment if a longer one was required? Have they cocked it up? and are they now trying to cover their backsides? Going there was the most stressful thing I have had to endure, I have multiple pathologies both physical and mental, and they are trying to put me through it again. should I accept the next appointment? as I have already had one. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds totally hinky to me, I've never heard of a double appointment and never seen a claimant called back in for the second half of the assessment.

My best guess is that the original assessor's report is totally inadequate and that is why a second appointment has been booked.

Unfortunately your options are limited, your claim cannot progress until the DWP receive an assessment report.

I would certainly query why the new appointment is required and consider putting in a complaint.

If the assaessor had an inadequate report she knew it before the end of the assessment, she said most people have 5 or 6 conditions causing their disability, I have 17, and she said she couldn't cover that in a one hour appointment.

The person who arranged my appointment was fully aware of my pathology, so why didn't he/she arrange an appropriate assessment?

I have complied by having the assessment, so I shouldn't have to attend any follow up, I am in receipt of DLA, and that shouldn't change until the report goes to the decision maker? I am 65 next year.

I have a complete transcript of my assessment so can show multiple errors. I recorded everything for my own personal use covertly, as my memory is not that good. I have had it transcribed to paper.

Hi Gordon,
Yesterday I was given a new date to attend a second assessment, on that day i have an appointment with my diabetic team at the hospital, this has taken 6 months to arrange and I can't possibly rearrange it and shouldn't have to, so I asked them to change it, they refused.

Also I made a complaint to Capita by e-mail, they acknowledged receipt, and asked me to phone them, they gave me a number, when I called, the person who answered didn't have clue what I was calling for, said they had not received my E-mail and that if I didn't attend the second assessment my money would be stopped. Also she raised her voice and was very rude, she also refused to pass me onto someone who could help.

I am now at my wits end over this. any advice would be helpful.
