PIP Decision was created by blue-ray1878
I have been awarded the standard rate for daily living and the standard rate for mobility, however with only getting the standard rate for mobility I will become virtually housebound because of the difficulty I have walking. Could you please advise me on my options?

I have already been in touch with the DWP and they will be phoning me on the 5th December so a case officer can talk to me. What do I need to tell them that I haven't already told them?
They said that when They've looked at what I've told them they will send a letter to tell me what they've decided and why. The said the call this a Mandatory Reconsideration Notice.
I'm So worried that I will lose all of the benefit I've already been awarded and I'm at my wits end.
Please help

Sincerely: Kevin

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

You are right in saying that you first step to challenging this is to request a Mandatory Reconsideration. You can speak to the Decision Maker on the phone if you wish, or you can send your submission in writing.

It would help if you are able to look at a copy of the assessor's report (DWP should send this out on request) - but you would not be able to do this if you let the DM do the MR on the phone. This report will help you understand why you did not score the points you hoped.

PIP was deliberately made harder to get than DLA, there are people who were on high rate mobility of DLA who simply do not qualify for enhanced mobility of PIP. You will only know this by having a good look at the PIP descriptors and see whether you believe you have a good chance of scoring the additional points needed. Then you need to show DWP how and why you meet these descriptors.

It is possible for the claimant to have a less favourable decision as a result of MR but it does not happen often. Any MR decision is appealable.

This is all explained in our PIP guide, so that should be your first port of call.

Then come back here, rather than starting a new topic, to ask further questions. You will find this easily in future if you bookmark/favourite it on your web browser now. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it makes things much easier for us - and I hope you will find it useful too :)
