PIP Mandatory Reconsideration Notice was created by aurorabucket
I had DLA indefinitely High rate Mobility and low rate Care I was told to apply for PIP as DLA was stopping .I applied and had to go for a face to face assessment I received my award today and they gave me standard rate mobility 8 points and standard care 10 points .
I don't agree with the award I think they never took everything into account .should I ask for a reconsideration I've been told they could look at it again and deduct points is this possible as they decided the points they gave me, how could they possibly deduct them

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Yes, it is possible to have the award reduced, or removed, on MR - but this would be appealable. It doesn't actually happen often but we have certainly heard of it.This is probably less likely if you have points to spare than if you just scraped through.
Do you have a copy of the assessor's report? If not, it is well worth getting one as it helps explain why you did not score the points you expected to .DWP usually send them out on request. However, you should not wait for the report if this would mean the MR request was not with DWP in time. Just give brief details and say that you will provide more information when you have seen the report, they should then allow you more time to get this to them.
You will only get the award increased by clearly showing how/why you should score the extra points. Don't get too bogged down arguing every sentence with which you disagree as this, per se, will not get you the award you believe you deserve.
Our PIP guide explains the criteria against which you are being assessed and also the MR process, so this would be a good place to start.
PIP help for claimants
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too
