Just received a letter today from the disability assessor company and the crux of the matter is they are doing a home f2f consultation in just under 2 weeks time so l am trying not to get over stressed which to be honest is pretty hard to do given the likelihood of a poor outcome despite the overwhelming evidence about how badly my illnesses and disabilities affect all the time.

There's a section at the back of the PIP Claim that explains the assessment process and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Best of luck.

Hi
Home assessment is nothing to worry about. However be aware that you are used to managing in your own home. You can decide which room the assesment takes place in, stay in bed if you want. The HCP is not entitled to look around your home. The assessment is primarily observing how you manage to do things. The HCP will be observing every little thing you do, if you open the door, how you walk, how you present your ID, if you pick anything up ie. tv remote. etc. you may refuse any of the physical tests if it would cause you discomfort but you must give your reason for refusal. The HCP need to see you without your coping mechanisms and with out using any aids. You do not need to make any special effort, you do not need to impress the HCP. Just be yourself warts and all.
Best of luck

My carer will be with me but because l have a pretty poor memory so is it wise to have the main points of my PIP claim form written down on a piece of paper? so that l can remember things.

Yes you can do this. Just remember if you do have to refer to your notes, make sure the assessor understands why you are doing so.

Just had my PIP home consultation which took 50 minutes and we thought it went well and she came out with the comments just before she left in that l don't think you have anything to worry about so fingers crossed hoping for a good decision now.
