Hi Gordon & all mods (hoping all are on the mend).

Having just read above post, this has left me and maybe others, somewhat confused! You refer to ‘ESA Support Group Indefinite Award’. Guess you know the question!

Was of the impression longest award for support group is 3 years. Also know the phrase ‘in the longer term’, worded on ESA85A, can be welcomed (in context). However, am struggling to understand or find regulations surrounding ‘indefinite award’ for use in ESA.

Would you please expand on this for my and no doubt others, education.

Can’t recall last time I asked for homework!

MT, spencer.

Hi francis,

Technically, all ESA awards are indefinite, reassessment can take place at any time once 3 months have passed since the original decision. Any time period that might be mentioned is only advisory although, in practice, it is usually adhered to. However, the brunt of the recent benefit changes is that no claimant will be allowed to 'languish on benefits' (ministers words, not mine!) without periodic reassessments. Claimants in the Support Group should expect to be reassessed at least every 3 years, it is 2 years for those in the WRAG.

How often will I be reviewed

Does this answer your questions? If not, please post again here and we will try to help.

Edit - the current backlog and suspension of reassessments might well extend those periods but that is an exceptional circumstance.

Very reassured to read this. Thanks. Still waiting for the letter that details about how long have been placed on Support ESA for, but I imagine it would be the longest time period. Will check out the link too.
