TOPIC: Advice on PIP appeal please

Advice on PIP appeal please 4 months 1 week ago #227536

Hi, please could I have some advice re pip appeal. I filled in the appeal form online and have the DWP papers so I'm trying to prepare my submissions following your advice packs. I have requested a paper hearing. My awards have gone from enhanced on both to 4 for mobility and 4 for daily living. I haven't got any further evidence but was going to write how my conditions affect me and haven't changed. Do I send this in now or wait until I have the date of the hearing? And do I argue the HP report or the DWP report or both? Thank you, J

If you have opted for a paper hearing then you have one month from the date of the letter that came with the DWP's submission to submit any evidence and testimony for your appeal.

Your primary goal is to explain how you meet the criteria for an award, go back through your claim form, the assessment report and our PIP Claim guide to understand why you have failed to score.

Don't be tempted to re-interpret the Descriptors, this will not work.

Remember you have to complete the activities reliably and on the majority of days.

As a second exercise, go through the report, try and stick to dealing with the facts of the assessment and referring to your evidence to show that it is incorrect rather than just stating that it is wrong.

If you decide to reference the assessor's opinions then try and undermine them rather than tackling them head-on.

There are guides in the PIP area that cover appealing and dealing with the report.
