TOPIC: Urgent:Does changing address trigger DLA-PIP?

Urgent:Does changing address trigger DLA-PIP? 1 month 2 days ago #221410

Hi Moderators (Gordon and Hurtyback are the two I remember) but lovely to see the others here),
I have not posted for a long time due to crisis in personal life.
Today I am posting as I am considering moving nearer to hospital treating me for new cancer diagnosed since Apr last year.
This move will be into another county from the present Notts.
However due to my mental state I will not be able to deal with completing any forms such as PIP which I am told will be asked of me to complete if I am on DLA which I am on now indefinitely. For this I think I will not bother with the benefits anymore as it is more stressful than anything I have dealt with. I also inherited a sum of money which has given me financial security. I am also on ESA contribution based.
I understand from my doctor that DWP wrote asked them to complete an ESA form in early spring of this year which I did not know.
Now that the latest scan of the cancer shows growths in the primary and metastatic area, I am thinking of moving to nearer the hospital that is treating me which is in another county, as I am told I may need a big operation if increased chemo drugs does not work.
Is it true I have to change to PIP if DWP is notified of a change of address?
Is it worth continuing? I do not mind losing PIP if ESA continues.
I would like to ask some other questions but do not feel able to put on public forum. But the above is more important.
Thank you in advance.

Moving address will not initiate an invitation to claim PIP, your DLA will remain in payment although you will have to deal with the transfer at some time, nor will your ESA(CB) be affected.

Hope the move goes well.

Hi Gordon,
I can see you are short of hands today. So I hesitate to post more questions.
One more for now: Would appreciate your advice as to whether it is better to advise DWP in writing about the move and change of address or just give them a call, bearing in mind that anxiety and palpitations can surface at any time?
Thank you

I'm actually the only Moderator who posts daily now.

You can phone them but this is something that needs to be confirmed in writing as well, if you can afford it, then send it by a Tracked post.
