TOPIC: ESA assessment

ESA assessment 1 week 4 days ago #227469

Hi My sister's husband had ESA assessment this morning. He has a degenerative spine and poor mobility and needs a wheelchair for assistance although he is able to walk short distances with support.
In the assessment he was asked to raise his arms and legs but was unable to do so as it was too painful. The assessor said this was fine as he could see he was in pain. A limited amount of questions were asked, 15 minutes max, then the assessor asked if they could wait as he needed to talk to his line manager. He returned 9 mins later and said they could go and would be informed of the decision in 6 weeks. Has anyone else had a similar experience ? is this common practice?
Thank you

It sounds as if the assessment was curtailed because the assessor had decided that you meet the criteria for the Support Group, their leaving the room to talk to a supervisor is consistent with this.

ESA Decisions are taking 4-6 weeks at the moment.

My husbands last assessment was terminated early and he was told he was free to go and would be placed in the support group. We were dumbfounded as this was very unexpected. We wont be so lucky a second time. Just returned his latest esa 50 and waiting to here when the assessment will be.
