So start with the contents of your post as this seems a clear explanation of your problems.

Remember this is all about distance so you need to translate the 10 steps you mention into metres.

Think about the following

You are not required to walk pain free but any pain that restricts the distance that you can walk should be taken into account.

Specifically for the Moving Around activity, if you are able to walk but you are in severe pain when doing so, then you can argue that your walking is not to a necessary standard and should be disregarded.

The legal test requires you to stand and then move (walk), so if you have problems getting up then you should document these as well.

If you walk slowly then it must take you at least twice the time to cover the distance as a healthy person would, this could be down to the speed of your walking but could also be the result of having to stop.

You must be able to repeat the distance, so if you could walk it once but not then be able to walk it again within a reasonable timescale then you should be classed as unable to repeat the activity.

I'm afraid I can't tell you how to show your walking is more restricted but things you need to think about is what you can't do, for example what can you walk in your house, how far is the toilet from where you normally sit, things that will count against you are any trips that you make outside, so for example, how do you do your shopping?

You must be able to walk the distance you can, reliably and on the majority of days, both these terms are defined in the PIP Claim guide

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

So you need to explain what you can, how you are limited and why.

I know that you are struggling with this but we can't write your submission for you, we have no idea of your problems and therefore cannot describe them to someone else.

Just make sure that you read the Descriptors that you are being assessed against and then follow the formula in the PIP Claim guide.

1. What is the health condition and what are the symptoms that cause you problems with
the Descriptor.
2. Describe the problems you have, giving details and examples if you can.
3. If you use any aids or appliances, list them and explain why you use them.
4. If you need physical help, supervision or prompting, whether you actually get it or not,
explain what you need and why you need it, including if you need help when using aids or
appliances. If you can’t manage even with help from another person and have to have
everything done for you, say so.
5. Say when during the day or night you have problems. For example, is it all the time, mostly
in the morning or just in the evening?
6. If your condition varies, from day to day or week to week, try to explain how much it varies
and what problems you have when you are at your best, worst and average.

Hi Ms

Gordan has given you all the help anyone can give on a forum where no one knows anyone else.

Your struggle stands out to me as one where you really need someone to be with you in your home to help you with these forms, assessments/tribunals. I wish I could help you more, I also wish we were all able to easily pick up a phone and get the help of a welfare rights adviser but that was virtually impossible to do before Covid and now its much much more difficult to do.

Ms. if you cannot get help with measuring 10 steps then you will have to just write that, it would be far better if we all had an idea in metres because some folk shuffle when walking and some folk take large steps so talking about steps doesn't give a really clear picture.

If you do have to talk about steps you will have to really try and explain how you walk them, like Gordan says, do you get breathless, do you have pain, are you safe with just your stick or do you feel safer with someone to hold onto ? Could a family member bring a tape measure and see how long the walk is from say your bedroom to the toilet ?

I am really sorry about what you are going through and wish that I could help more, You are clearly very anxious and I know that is overwhelming you. Look back through all the examples we have given and see if you can ''fit'' how your conditions effect you into those examples.

If you need more help just pop back on here and ask Ms, we cannot do your form for you I wish I could help with that but we do not know you or how and why your conditions meet the descriptors. Please don't think we are not trying to help and missing what you are asking, PIP was never meant to be an easy benefit to get and it isn't.

I am rooting for you, we all are, we don't want you to fall through the cracks so if you need help with something we can help you with just ask.

Hi Ms

As Gordon has already explained - we cannot write your submission for you. Use the words you have just used - they sound fine.
