TOPIC: What is a paper assessment as such?

What is a paper assessment as such? 4 days 20 hours ago #246110

If like a lot of people that are deemed unfit to work, we have already filled in paperwork with evidence on the original claim and are unfit for work. What do they mean by paper assessment? Is this for new claims? If not what extra details are they looking for?

It is my understanding that this will apply for new claims and to those whose awards are up for reassessment/renewal.

As I have said this is my understanding only.

Hope this helps.

Take care,

Keith

Hi Keith,

A paper based assessment is one where a claimant has supplied enough evidence (i.e. paperwork, Doctor's letters etc) and a decision can be made without the need to see you face to face.

Phrank.

Seeker

For you and others. :)

A Paper assessment will be done on your form and evidence that you have attached, perhaps a previous assessment report and any information that the assessor is able to source, for example; by contacting your GP.

Previously, Paper assessments made up no more than 5% of reviews so it will be interesting to see how the Assessment Providers adapt.

If this is for ESA then there is no pressure on the AP to do any form of review as the award is an indefinite one and can only be changed/stopped by a new Decision.

Claimants with a Fixed Term award of PIP will need to chase the AP and the DWP if they are due a review as, at the moment, their award will end on the End Date and they will not receive any further payments.

If you are assessed on paper as a FTF interview could not be done, if the award is continued does this mean that they will not call you for another assessment for some time?
