TOPIC: PIP reassessment - pending or suspended?

PIP reassessment - pending or suspended? 2 months 6 days ago #246199

I notified the DWP of a change of mobility circumstances in early December (I'd previously only been receiving Standard DL, but now according to their rules I should haha be eligible for enhanced both as I'm now using a wheelchair full time outdoors and part time indoors, I have some weird progressive neurological disorder that was due to be investigated three days ago after an 18 month wait, but of course that just got cancelled too) - they screwed up and didn't send me my form until late January, they received my form in early February, and told me there was an 8-10 week queue for forms being assessed.

Now I'm really confused. Does the new situation mean my reassessment won't go ahead for six months, or is it sufficiently already in the system that they'll do a paper/phone assessment? I'd been expecting an appointment sometime in April.

Hi,

Your real name is showing when you post, you may want to change this, please see here if you do:

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You may also want to read the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates page on the website, there is a link to it in my signature.

My understanding is that all assessments will now be telephone/paper based.

Fixed my name, thanks.

I may have been ambiguous in my OP - it's not clear from reading the DWP statement whether they're continuing to assess only those assessments that have already been sent a face-to-face appointment date, or also those for which they're already processing received forms.

So it's unclear to me whether my reassessment is in a queue for current paper/phne assessment, or whether it's in the stack of "suspended for six months".

PS I have incidentally gone down with a virus in the last couple of days, and with the broad spread of possible symptoms, have no clue yet whether its covid-19 or not (I'm something of a virus magnet, so it could be anything). I was already self-isolating, but the potential PIP increase would really help - I have to rely on online shopping, and that means a big spend each time. I'm having to negotiate paying my rent late because of this (luckily I'm housed by a Housing Association as a vulnerable person).

Mu understanding is that if you had already been sent a date for a face to face assessment that the agency doing the assessment will be in touch to let you know if they will be doing a telephone assessment or a paper based one.

Where awards of benefits are due to expire, the DWP will be extending end-dates so that your award continues at its current rate.

Neither of those situations apply to me though, which is why I'm asking. I notified them of a change of circumstances, which triggered a complete reassessment (even though my current award is good until 11.2021).

I've not received an appointment date, but nor is my award due to run out.

It's not clear whether they are still processing forms they've already received, or not.
